Safety First:

Sunshine Events Group prioritizes the safety of all players, coaches, referees, and spectators. In the event of adverse weather or unplayable field conditions, the Tournament Director reserves the right to take the following actions to ensure everyone’s well-being.

 

Game Time Adjustments

Reduced Game Times: To accommodate delays and maintain the tournament schedule, game times may be shortened.
Early Game Completion: Games may be finished before inclement weather arrives or to preserve field conditions.

Rescheduling and Format Changes

Rescheduling: If possible, games may be rescheduled to later in the day or to the following day.

Festival Format: To maximize playing opportunities for the majority of teams, the tournament may convert to a “festival” format if weather disrupts the planned schedule. This format will eliminate playoffs and championships and focus on playing as many games as possible within the remaining time.

 

Communication and Transparency

Website Updates: We will make every effort to update the tournament app with cancellation and schedule changes promptly.

Player Preparedness: Teams should be prepared to resume play as soon as weather and field conditions allow, regardless of potential delays or schedule changes.

Field Conditions: Field directors will assess field conditions and communicate any changes to game schedules.

 

Thunder/Lightning Policy

Immediate Suspension: Play will be immediately suspended upon any observed thunder or lightning. Players and spectators must leave the fields and seek shelter in their cars.

Resumption Criteria: Play will resume only after 20 minutes have passed since the last sound of thunder or sighting of lightning, as determined by the tournament staff.

Subsequent Games: Every effort will be made to begin subsequent games on time. These games may be shortened until the tournament schedule is back on track. Once back on schedule, games will revert to normal tournament timing.

No Refunds: No refunds will be issued due to weather-related cancellations, rescheduling, or format changes.

Final Decisions: The Tournament Director’s decisions regarding weather-related matters are final.
